New In Town

No, he's not mine, but I will claim him as one of the cutest baby boys I've ever seen. This is Josiah, and at the time this picture was taken he was barely 24 hours old. His mommy is one of my best friends, and I was so excited to be able to meet him that I had to share my joy with you. Mommy is fine, baby is healthy (8 lbs, 1 oz!) and they get to go home tomorrow. Can you look at this picture and not feel perfect peace? I can't. Welcome to the world, Josiah...welcome to the Walla Walla Valley. Welcome home.

Update

Some of you may recall my post last spring of my daughter at eight months old. It's one of my favourite pictures to this day and hangs in large version on the wall in my living room. I also posted a picture of when she was only three days old, taken back at the beginning of August 2009. Here is an update shot...she's now walking everywhere, dressing like a big girl and growing slowly but surely. She can say a few words now, and understands almost infinitely more than she did even a month ago. This is her walking with her daddy to the car after church this past weekend.

Happy Birthday!

A friend of mine threw a birthday party for her little girl who turned one at the beginning of the month and my daughter and I spent an hour with them and the other guests, laughing, keeping the kids from fighting over the new toys the birthday girl got, and generally having a good time. Before she cut into it, I snapped this quick (blurry - sorry!) photo with my cell phone. She made this cake herself; the top and bottom tiers were applesauce spice cake and the middle layer was butternut squash cake. I tried the applesauce part and it was delicious! She's a fabulous cake maker. I feel like I'm friends with Martha Stewart sometimes.

I took this just about a year ago when my daughter wasn't even a month old. Baby fingers, baby toes, baby eyes and baby noses...the best!

Something Personal

I've tried to keep this blog pretty anonymous, but this is one of my absolute favourite photos of my Little Miss, who has not made an appearance on this blog since September. So here she is in all her 8-month adorableness. I hope this picture makes your day as much as it does mine.

Long-Awaited Little Miss

I'm back! It's been six weeks since I last posted, and at that time I was in the hospital having my darling little girl. I was induced at 6 a.m. and at 9:16 p.m. on July 29, my Little Miss entered the world. It was a pretty straight-forward delivery, though her body temperature was a little low, so they had me hold her skin-to-skin and draped two heated blankets around us. By the following morning she was doing just fine, and was feeding well, too. This picture was taken the day after we brought her home from the hospital. She was so peaceful, napping next to me on the couch. So here is your first introduction to...Kayla Sue.
