A Small Break

This is a beautiful sculpture in the waiting area of the Family Birth Center at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla. We became familiar with this piece of art while awaiting the arrival of our first child last Wednesday. Little Miss arrived that evening at a healthy 8 lb. 4 oz., and 21.6 inches long. Due to this new distraction, my posting on this blog may not be regular for a while. Please forgive me - I do plan to continue posting as much as possible and hopefully get back to daily postings soon. For now...I'll be busy learning how to be a mom!

Fort Walla Walla

Yes, it's true - Walla Walla has its own military fort. Granted, it's only used now for education and preserving history, but it's still a fort and it has been around for quite a while, though I can't seem to find the date on their website. I hope to show more photos from this place soon...sadly I've only ever visited here once in the 8 years I've lived here. They are currently building a new expansion and I am excited to see it once it is complete. This is one of the walkways between the museum at the top of the hill and the replicas at the bottom of the hill. It's a beautiful place to visit, with plenty of grounds (around 15 acres) to explore and things to see. Those of you gardeners out there will notice that this is an old photo - the irises aren't even ready to bloom yet, and the trees are still rather bare!

Overprotective?

As my husband and I were eating our picnic lunch at a bench across the lawn from the group area, we noticed something rather peculiar. Instead of parking in the parking lot, which is a mere 20-second walk from here, the owner of this lovely bike decided his/her ride was too precious to leave in the designated parking area and instead pulled right into the park with it. I'm not sure this is in congruence with the park regulations, but no one in charge seemed to a) notice or b) mind, so here it stayed, where the owner could keep an eye on it. I know nothing about motorcycles, but this one does indeed look nice!
